According to the CEO of Take-Two, the idea that Artificial Intelligence in video games could cause someone to lose their job or only serve to reduce costs is simply crazy.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two (parent company of Rockstar Games and more), recently spoke at the TD Cowen conference and had his say on the Artificial Intelligences in video games and how these are and will be applied.
Specifically, he said that it is absolutely not true that they will cause job losses and that AI is not a way to reduce costsbecause simply every money saved will be used to improve something else in the video game, so as to remain the best and sell more.

Zelnick was asked if he agrees that the use of A.I it will not guarantee lower production costs; the CEO responded, “I largely agree, we’ve actually been in the AI business since the very beginning of the business, obviously. And we’ve seen numerous tools created for our business that have helped improve the efficiency.”
“And yet, as you said, i production costs of games went up and didn’t go up because there were no efficiencies created by those tools. These efficiencies have been created and have allowed us to turn our attention to more complex businesses that continue to engage and delight consumers.”
“I’m pretty sure the same thing happens [con l’Intelligenza Artificiale]. So, theGenerative AI it will allow us to do a number of things more efficiently. Then we will turn our attention to other things, which will probably still be expensive and time-consuming.”
AI won’t make anyone lose their jobs for Zelnick
Zelnik then went on to say, “So, I think the same thing happens here. I think we… If we raise our expectations, I don’t believe for a minute that generative AI will reduce employment. It is madness. In reality it is madness. It won’t make people irrelevant. The nature of some forms of employment will change.”
“Believe it or not, I’m in a WhatsApp chat with a bunch of Silicon Valley CEOs and the conventional wisdom out there is that AI will make us all unemployed. It’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. productivity tools is that they increase employment“.
