Sue Kelly announced the sad news on the same day. “This news breaks my heart. I am sharing with you all that my beloved husband Colin Gibb passed away this afternoon,” she wrote in a fan group on Facebook. And says an emotional goodbye: “I love you, Colin, I lived your ‘Agadoo’ dream for 22 years. As we always said, I love you forever.”
“Agadoo” was Black Lace’s biggest hit. In 1984, the band stayed in the UK singles charts for 30 weeks with the cheerful catchy tune. The song sold over a million copies worldwide.

Black Lace is also known for hits such as “Superman”, “Hokey Cokey” or “Wig-Wam Bam”. As well as for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 1979. With singer Colin Gibb, the British came eighth.
Only on May 13th of this year did Colin Gibb announce his retirement and had plans to retire abroad. His unexpected death also affected his former band colleagues.

On Facebook the group speaks of “great sadness” and explains: “Colin was one of the founding members of Black Lace along with Alan Barton and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We would like to send all our love and support to his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
Only a few weeks ago, former Train bassist Charlie Colin tragically passed away. The co-founder of the band, which became known worldwide with the hit “Hey, Soul Sister”, died in a domestic accident. (moe)
