Wiener: the position of head of the rhythmic gymnastics federation was a big burden
The head coach of the Russian rhythmic gymnastics team, Irina Viner, explained her resignation from the post of head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG). Her words are conveyed “VseProSport”.
Wiener admitted that the position was a very big burden for her, and she had long wanted to resign. “[Должность] prevented me from doing what my gift from God called me to do – to be a line coach, a teacher. This took a lot of time and effort. Paperwork, scheduling, a huge layer of work that went against my direct responsibilities,” the specialist shared.
Wiener noted that she more than once offered Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva to take her place, but she refused. “Therefore, it was with great pleasure that I handed over the responsibilities to the ten-time world champion, member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the head of the clubs, Olga Kapranova,” she added.
Wiener left her post on October 1. She has occupied it since 2008.
