The release of the Minister’s book, I still struggle to accept the idea, Di Maio (“A love called politics”) is good news. Because this means that he is at the end of a path: the one that led him, due to a mysterious causality of events triggered by a maddening domino, to become first the Minister of Labor and then the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
We grant Di Maio the honors of arms, he won the lottery and didn’t even play his cards badly. But now the Di Maio epic is winding down, thanks also to the electoral defeat of his non-party (close to extinction) in the recent administrative elections. So we welcome this useless book with enthusiasm only for the symbolic meaning it represents.
Di Maio is the presentable face of a movement born in a context of mass hysteria to the cry of “vaffa”, when the web seemed to cancel studies, skills, experiences. This is how we found a Di Maio Minister. The post-war past has given us as many ministers who are not always up to par, but there was a minimum common denominator made up of schools (albeit party) if not universities, experiences (I am thinking of former diplomats at the Farnesina), reading.
We have come to the satisfaction of the “factists” (those of the Fatto Quotidiano) who have repeatedly praised Gigino’s dedication and rapid learning ability, we do not question it, but to think that he was doing his first internship as a Minister. ..We imagine him in front of the globe, with someone behind him illustrating remote states, international relations, millennial stories.
And he, with the air of a good student, who a minute later was supposed to explain Italy’s strategies to journalists on the planetary chessboard. Gigino’s book will be well written (a minister certainly does not lack a good collaborator), there will be moving emotional memories, but this time I take advantage of the reader’s right (remember Daniel Pennac?) And I avoid it regardless. And sorry if I wallow in anything else (which are not even the equally useless books by Meloni, Bonaccini, Renzi, Letta, Toninelli, Salvini, Calenda, etc.
