In the absence of E3, the Summer Game Fest has become the most important summer event of the moment. Multiple companies, both indie and AAA, are involved in the presentation created by Geoff Keighley. However, There is one that is conspicuous by its absence, and it is Nintendo.
On the eve of a new Summer Game Fest presentation, Keighley held a question and answer session, where he revealed new information about the event. In this way, he was questioned in the presence of Nintendo, since fans wanted to know if this will be the year in which the Japanese company will delight us with its presence. Unfortunately, this will not be the case. In this regard, this is what the organizer commented:
“Nintendo has never been a big part of Summer Game Fest yet, we always hope it’s the right year for them to come in and get involved, but that hasn’t happened yet. It’s good to have a couple of company ads, but it’s also good to spread them in different places. They need something of their own to support all of that, it’s an ever-evolving landscape. Summer Game Fest isn’t just a two-hour show, it’s really kind of a full-time period. We do not claim these events, those companies organize them, but we try to bring everyone together so that the audience can take a tour through all these advertisements.”
Nintendo, unlike other companies, has its own event. Nintendo Directs have become a source of information that many look forward toand considering that a performance of this always takes place in the summer, it is not a surprise that the Japanese company chooses to have a space completely dedicated to them, rather than sharing the stage with others.
This is not new. Although Nintendo always had a presence on the E3 floor, during the last editions of the event the company left aside the in-person presentations that characterized them so much years ago. Nintendo Directs allow you to have full control of advertisements and the way in which certain aspects are revealed to the general publicso it’s no surprise that they have no plans to return to a format where they are available to others.
Although Nintendo will not have a presence at the Summer Game Fest, they do plan to hold a new Nintendo Direct during the summer of this year, although at the moment it is unknown when this will happen. On related topics, a Google employee was behind multiple Nintendo leaks. Likewise, they leak another game for the Switch 2.
Author’s Note:
Nintendo will probably never be at Summer Game Fest. Not only do they have the Nintendo Direct, but the participation they have had in the last The Game Awards have not been the best experiences for them, something that will probably discourage them from having a presence at the summer event.
