He stressed that the Russian bombing destroyed in about a week 30% of the country’s power stations, which caused a “massive” power outage in various regions.
“Since October 10, 30% of Ukrainian power stations have been destroyed, causing massive disruptions across the country,” he said on Twitter, reiterating his refusal to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
hard winter
The state network operator “Uknergo” reported that recent strikes in central and northern Ukraine destroyed energy infrastructure facilities, and last Saturday’s attack severely damaged a large power facility near Kyiv.
Uknergo noted that the country’s energy situation is currently under control, but urged Ukrainians to cut back on their energy use to help avoid an emergency shutdown.
The network operator also warned Ukrainians that a difficult winter awaits them as Russia continues its attacks in the colder and darker months, and Moscow appears intent on striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and intensifying its strikes as winter approaches.
Bombing targets
The Moscow-based researcher, Waseem Suleiman, said that Russia had warned since the start of the operation against targeting the Russian infrastructure. In addition, some people understood the patience and wait that Moscow followed in the previous stage as weakness, as it was known about its long-term policy and its preference for the negotiation path.
Suleiman added, to “Sky News Arabia”, “But it seems that this policy was thought by some as weakness, which we noticed in Western media reports that coincided with the bombing of the Crimean Bridge, where he promoted this event as a great achievement, which forced Moscow to respond strongly and firmly. severely on this operation by targeting energy facilities far from civilians.”
He added that Russia is pressuring Zelensky with this process to drag him to the negotiating table, especially after his recent statements in which he appeared in a state of denial, as the latter, the Ukrainian president, thought that he was indeed capable of victory, as Moscow proved to Zelensky and the West during the first day of its response to striking a bridge Crimea that he “lives in a world of fantasy and nothing more.”
He pointed out that Russia wants to deliver a message that; That “Moscow is able to use the American method to solve crises, that is, the method of extreme violence like what we saw in Iraq in 3003, but it avoids this method to this day, and prefers negotiations that fulfill its desires and conditions, but with the passage of time and Zelensky’s rejection of negotiations, we see that the Ukrainian president is losing reality on the ground.”
Western response
American and European reactions to the Russian attacks followed, with American and European officials expressing shock, and European leaders pledging more military support to Kiev.
The German Ministry of Defense has delivered advanced air defense systems to Ukraine, which is a system of four IRIS-T air defense systems, including missiles with an infrared guidance system, of the air-to-air type.
US President Joe Biden also condemned, in a call with his Ukrainian counterpart, the Russian attacks that targeted cities in Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv, and Biden pledged in the call to continue providing Ukraine with the necessary support to defend itself, including advanced air defense systems.
The French presidency also confirmed that President Emmanuel Macron has taken new measures to support Ukraine militarily and meet the needs of its population.
