A young man, 28 years old, died from a strong blow to his head with the locomotive ‘La Emperatriz’a train that has traveled through Mexico to celebrate the anniversary of the creation of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC).
Dulce Alondra García had gone to a part of the lane that crosses near the municipality of Nopala de Villagrán, in the state of Hidalgo. She was with his son preparing to see the passage of the steam engine, considered a historic device due to its manufacture dating back to 1930, and which is making its last trip from Canada.
The imposing Empress 2816 locomotive passed through the aforementioned municipality in the afternoon of June 4. Dozens of people came to the banks of the railway to take videos and photos.
Who was Dulce Alondra, a woman who was run over and killed while taking a ‘selfie’ with ‘The Empress’?
Dulce Alondra stood steps ahead of the crowd with her little boy. Seeing the train approaching, she knelt down, took her cell phone and tried to take a selfie.
As captured in the video of one of those present, the girl was hit by the train, so she hit the pavement hard. Amid screams, some helped her and checked to see if the minor had also suffered injuries.
She died from head trauma., according to local media. His body was sent for the corresponding analysis by the authorities and was then handed over for burial.
The victim was originally from the municipality of Huichapan, located about 35 kilometers away from Nopala de Villagrán, where the tragedy occurred.
“We join in the grief that overwhelms family and friends of Dulce Alondra García Hernández, we extend our most sincere condolences. May she rest in peace,” said the Municipal Government of Huichapan upon learning of her death.
She graduated in business management engineering from the Higher Technological Institute of Huichapan. “The Technological community expresses its deepest condolences for the sensitive and unfortunate death of Engineer Dulce Alondra García Hernández. (…) May she rest in peace and resignation for her family,” the institution stated.
His fellow students highlighted in another statement his “tenacity and smile every day.”
The young woman had turned 28 on May 12. In addition, she was a single mother of the five-year-old child, based on data from local media.
With the attendance of dozens of people and accompanied by a group of mariachis, her family buried her on the afternoon of June 6. First, there was a mass in the San Mateo neighborhood, in Huichapan, where he lived, and then the coffin was taken to the Calvario Pantheon of the municipality.

‘La Emperatriz’ locomotive company warns of the dangers of taking ‘selfies’
The CPKC of Mexico assured that the woman was “very close to the train track taking a photograph” when the locomotive hit her.
“This tragic incident is being investigated. We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and wish to express our condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones. CPKC of Mexico is collaborating with the competent authorities and will provide all the information necessary for the expert opinion. corresponding,” he added in a statement.
After the death of the young woman and showing that dozens of people want to see ‘The Empress’ as she passes through their municipalities, the CPKC reiterated to citizens that “the selfies on the roads” put their safety at risk.
“Even if you are not standing on the tracks, you must leave a distance of at least 10 meters from the train path because it is wider and any of its parts can hit you,” the company emphasized.
‘La Emperatriz’ ends its journey on June 7 in Mexico City, after having undertaken the last trip on April 24 from Canada.
