“This is the most exciting thing that happened to me in my football career. Being able to direct the Women’s National Team is the best. Representing your country is defending the flag, the heart, the Homeland. I live this moment with great emotion. Honestly, my tears have fallen. All that remains is to start working ”, the brand new DT told the official AFA website.
Regarding the professional, Germán assured: “This opportunity comes to me in one of my best moments. I spent many years in women’s soccer and I know the players, I have had the experience of several Libertadores. We feel qualified to be able to direct the Selection. Hopefully the results accompany us ”.
Along with Germán Portanova, the aforementioned Franco Caponetto, Sebastián Gómez (field assistant), Osvaldo Conte (physical trainer), Nicolás Valado (video analyst) and goalkeeper coach Mauro Dobler will also be making up the National Team.
“Qualifying for the World Cup gave Argentina an important position. Now we have to maintain it, improve it, unite the group more and more, and continue with the things that have been done well, adding my idea and my way of working. Together with my coaching staff, we will try to overturn that prominence in the game that the UAI had, “added DT.
On the other hand, in the next few days, President Claudio Tapia will announce the coaching staff of the women’s youth teams.
Alan Brandi’s illusion for the Futsal World Cup
Alan Brandi was called up again by coach Matías Lucuix for the final stage of preparation of the futsal team for the World Cup, to be played in Lithuania between September 12 and October 3. After a dislocation in one of the toes of the left foot and two weeks of rest, the rehabilitation work began in Buenos Aires.
“I came here earlier to try to recover from an injury I had and I worked for that from the beginning. I am very well, in the final phase of recovery and I am eager to start training with the rest of my teammates ”, Brandi told the AFA press.
“I have been with the National Team for seven years. For my parents I decided to play for Argentina, which was a dream I had as a boy and which came true. Whenever the coach summons me, I come as if it were the last time, to try to take advantage of the opportunity, enjoying each call and now wanting to train, play and be in another World Cup with Argentina, “said the player who was born in Las Palmas from Spain and with Argentine parents.
“I hope to be in good condition. We are working and the illusion is the same as in the last World Cup, the same every time we have each time we put on the shirt The difference is that in the World Cup in Colombia, nobody counted on Argentina to win it and now it is even heard that we are favorites, but we all go with the same enthusiasm from the first day and wanting the games to start ”, he added.
