The Brazilian tried to attack the vice president with a loaded weapon that, for reasons still unknown, did not fire
The Argentine police have arrested Fernando Andres Sabag Montiel for the attempted assassination of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. This is a 35-year-old man of Brazilian nationality who has a police record after being arrested in March 2021 with a 35-centimeter long knife.
According to different sources, Sabag was inside a vehicle without a rear license plate, which caught the attention of a Buenos Aires police officer. When asked for the car’s documentation, Sabag would have dropped a knife with a 35-centimeter blade, which he alleged that he was carrying as a method of self-defense.
According to local media, it is used in a “non-regular urban and suburban motor transport service for free passengers, except through taxis and remises, car rental with driver and school transport (includes special urban services such as charters, contracted services,” something that would reinforce the version not yet verified that he works as a driver for a well-known transport application.
The pistol with which Fernando Andres Sabag Montiel tried to shoot is a Bersa cal.32 auto with a 7.65 caliber. The gun was loaded with five bullets but, for reasons still unknown, did not fire when Sabag pulled the trigger.
