The Sanda Dia case is a drama that has been occupying the whole of Belgium for years now. The Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, has temporarily or permanently banned seven students who were involved in the student’s death. What follows is a lawsuit risking prison terms of up to ten years for a totally out of hand hazing at one of the country’s most elite student clubs. The parents of the suspects all belong to the notables of Flanders and are themselves magistrates, lawyers or dentists. Their children who now have to appear are assisted by the best lawyers in the country.
