The match of the 23rd day of the Professional League between Gimnasia de La Plata and Boca Juniors was suspended by referee Mastrángelo due to the chaos that was taking place both on and off the field and that ended with the death of a 57-year-old fan .
Leaving aside the tragedy and focusing on the purest sporting aspect, now the big question is when the game will be played, of which the first 9 minutes were barely played.
In a season so tight due to the World Cup that will begin next November, the Professional League will have to find a date for the remaining 81 minutes to be played.
Article 42 paragraph 3 of the regulation establishes that “ The matches corresponding to the season must be played within it and the suspended matches must be rescheduled before the last date of each tournament.
In the event that it is a match suspended by the referee, as in this case, subparagraph d) determines that “The suspended match must be played in the first instance the following day, leaving it to the discretion of the Board of Directors of the LPF. fixing the schedule, even if the companies awarded the audiovisual rights state their inability to broadcast the game on said day and time”.
One of the dates that is being considered is next Wednesday, October 19, the day Boca should play the Cup semifinal against Patronato, a match that in this case should be rescheduled. And it is that there are still four more days to be played in the Professional League, five in the case of Gimnasia and Boca, and the tournament ends on October 23, so before that date the remaining 81 minutes of said match must be played .
