Major League Soccer will have two transfer windows during the 2023 season.
During these periods, MLS clubs may request an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) for a player under contract in another country.
Although transfer agreements can be reached outside of transfer periods, the transfer itself and the ITC receipt are required in order to officially add that player to a squad, in addition to making him eligible to participate in official competitions. .
All transfers during the season between MLS clubs must take place within the Primary or Secondary Transfer Windows.
All clubs must be authorized in terms of their squad composition and their budget at the beginning of the 2023 season, on February 25.
Campuses are closed about six weeks before Decision Day (October 21). Between the Secondary Transfer Window and the Roster Freeze, clubs can sign free agents.
