The Monterrey fans are among the most passionate about Mexican soccer. The fans of Tigres de la UANL and Monterrey are intense, loyal and support their clubs through thick and thin. However, this passion can often be a drawback. There have been countless episodes of violence between these two hobbies and those of other Liga MX teams.
In this context, Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León, revealed a worrying fact. The politician mentioned that during the weekends, an average of 500 calls are received to denounce family violence. According to Garcia’s statements, calls increase when home teams lose.
During the event, the governor affirmed that violence against women is one of the crimes of greatest concern in the state and, in this context, the state Secretariat for Women was created. In his speech, Samuel García indicated that when Tigres or Rayados lose, the calls for family violence can reach a thousand.
“That is third world, that is shameful, pathetic, because because the football team loses they take it out on our children and our wives, it is inhuman”
– Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León
The governor of Nuevo León indicated that the Secretariat for Women will guarantee the protection of women so that they may have a life free of violence and will offer care and protection services.
