After the America Cup Y Eurocup, as well as while playing the Gold Cup, the Tokyo Olympics 2020 They are coming to start football next Wednesday, July 21.
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 which still affects much of the world, only seven venues were chosen to play the football tournament: the National Stadium from Tokyo, the Tokyo Stadium of Chofu, the Saitama Stadium of Saitama, the Nissan Stadium from Yokohama, the Ibaraki Stadium of Kashima, the Miyagi Stadium of Rifu and the Sapporo dome from Sapporo.
As is well known, the competition regulations indicate that the men’s teams must be made up of selected under-23s, in addition to being able to have three older reinforcements, in the case of Mexico being chosen Guillermo Ochoa, Henry Martin Y Luis Romo.
The defending team for gold in the men’s category is Brazil, while in the female branch Germany will not be able to endorse his authority as first place after failing in qualifying after losing against Sweden in the quarterfinals of the European tournament.
It will be on Wednesday, July 21, when the opening of women’s football will take place, while men’s football will begin on Thursday, July 22, where the first will come to an end on Friday, August 6 and the second until Saturday, August 7 of the same month.
For the men’s championship a total of 16 teams are present: for Asia they will play Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia Y South Korea; for Europe they raise their hands France, Germany, Romania Y Spain; for Oceania is New Zealand; for Africa there are Egypt, Ivory Coast Y South Africa; by CONCACAF represent Mexico Y Honduras.
On the women’s side, only twelve combined will compete: Japan, Brazil, New Zealand, Britain, Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, USA, Zambia, Australia, China Y chili.
Group A of the men’s branch is made up of the host Japan, South Africa, Mexico and France, while Group B has New Zealand, South Korea, Honduras and Romania; Group C with Egypt, Spain, Argentina and Australia; finally, Group D has Brazil, Germany, the Ivory Coast and Saudi Arabia.
It will be on Thursday July 22 when El Tricolor takes action against the Gauls; then, on Sunday, July 25, they will clash with the nation of The rising sun and finally, on Wednesday, July 28, they will face the Bafana Bafana to find out if they will be present in the quarterfinals, which will be held on Saturday, July 31.
Regarding the semifinals, they are agreed for Tuesday, August 3, the clash for third place on Friday, August 6, and the grand final on Saturday, August 7.
In the women’s branch, Group E has Japan, Canada, Great Britain and Chile; Group F includes China, Brazil, Zambia and the Netherlands; finally Group G is made up of Sweden, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
The Group Phase begins on Wednesday, July 21, Matchday 2 is played on Saturday, July 24, and the last one, on Tuesday, July 27. The quarters will be played on Friday, July 30, the semifinals on Monday, August 2, the duel for third place on Thursday, August 5, and the grand final on Friday, August 6.
