Those infected with the new mutant of the Corona virus, “Omicron”, wonder about how long they are contagious to others, and some of them ask the following question: When is it safe to leave isolation without risking infecting others?
The National Public Radio website says the answer depends on who you ask.
He adds that, according to the instructions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a person can get out of isolation 5 days after the positive result of the examination and the onset of symptoms.
As long as the symptoms remain, the patient must continue to wear the mask for an additional 5 days.
However, these guidelines come with caveats, as they are largely based on previous mutation data, and are based on many considerations, such as ensuring that workplaces have employees who are able to conduct business at a time when “Omicron” was rampant.
Preliminary studies show that about half of those infected with “Omicron” will remain contagious to others until the fifth day, and for a smaller number of infected people, the effectiveness of infection continues for several more days.
It is always recommended to rely on PCR tests, because it can detect small particles of the virus, even after the patients recover, and the results appear positive due to its great ability to monitor.
But this type of test does not reveal the extent of infection in the human body, and therefore it is recommended to use rapid antigen tests, because they usually monitor large quantities of the Corona virus, in other words, they show whether a person is contagious to others or not.
