All astronomical phenomena are amazing when they let themselves be seen. Of these, perhaps one of the most intriguing is the solar eclipse, due to its relative rarity. Now thanks to POT we know when will be the next ones that we can enjoy from different parts of Mexico.

The first of them will take place during 2023. This will be an annular solar eclipse, meaning that you will be able to see the ring of light around the moon during its duration. It can be seen in a better way in Yucatan. The states of Coahuila, Durango and Sinaloa will also be able to see it, although partially.
The great main show will arrive in 2024 with a total eclipse of the Sun. In this, the moon does not allow any of the light rays to pass, so total darkness prevails in different areas. This can be seen on April 8, 2024. On that occasion, the state of Coahuila will be the ideal place to see it in all its splendor.
NASA indicated that Mexico will be the “headquarters” of the largest solar eclipse of 2024. That is why they will transfer a special team to the Torreón observatory that year. This in order to observe the phenomenon in detail and be able to transmit it to the rest of the world. Other states from where it can be enjoyed are Sinaloa and Durango.
Although Mexico City and other territories will not be able to witness it, its inhabitants could attend Torreón. Since some tourist areas will be established from where to see this cosmic ballet. So we have to save, in the end we still have a couple of years before it happens.
When will there be solar eclipses in Mexico again?
After 2024, Mexico will have to wait a few decades to witness a solar eclipse again. Since it will be on March 30, 2052 when a phenomenon of such magnitude can be seen from our territory. Another couple of decades later, on May 11, 2078, there will be one more. From then on there will be no more until the next century.
Taking these dates into account, surely many astronomy fans will want to take advantage of 2024. Although of course there is the possibility of seeing one in different parts of the world, but it may not be as close as a trip to Coahuila. Would you like to see a total solar eclipse in your life?
