The tool that allows direct payments on WhatsApp can gain a new security step before carrying out the transfer of values.
The specialized website XDA Developers found a few lines of code in the new version of the Android App that indicate a request for an identity document to confirm the transaction. The company has not yet confirmed the implementation of the new feature.

The mechanism does not yet exist in either of the two countries where payments can be made via the platform: Brazil and India.
Despite the popularity of the messaging app in the country, uptake of payment through the platform is still low. In a survey conducted by Mobile Time/Opinion Box, only 7% of Brazilian users had registered their debit card by the beginning of September.
