WhatsApp continues to bring new features this early autumn, introducing options designed to make the user experience even richer and more engaging. At least this is Meta’s idea, which in doing so seems to want to make the apps in its ecosystem increasingly less distinguishable. This time, the news concerns the States, that is, the tool that allows you to share photos, videos and texts that disappear after 24 hours.
The first concerns the introduction of States like it. With a simple tap, it will be possible to express appreciation for a contact’s status, similar to what happens on other social platforms. The “Likes” will as expected be private and visible only to the author of the State, guaranteeing maximum discretion.
The second novelty concerns the private mentions. It will be possible to mention specific contacts within your state, so that they receive a private notification and can in turn re-share the content with their audience. These mentions will be private and not visible to other users. And we have already seen this function in other social networks, such as Instagram.
According to Meta, however, these new features offer a more direct and personalized way to interact with the statuses of your contacts. “Likes” allow you to express appreciation quickly and easily, while private mentions allow you to engage specific contacts discreetly.
As for availability, the new country features have been rolling out for a few days now and will therefore be available globally soon. In the coming months, WhatsApp plans to introduce further innovations for the Statuses and the Updates tab, with the aim of making interaction with friends and family even simpler and more immediate.
And while we remind you that filters and wallpapers for video calls have also arrived on WhatsApp, we ask you: how many of you use statuses on WhatsApp? Let us know in the comments below.
