WhatsApp has launched a new security feature available to some users of the beta version of the application on Android, which allows blocking messages from unknown accounts directly from the application settings.
Users can enable this feature by going to the privacy settings in the advanced options section, where they can enable the option to block messages from unknown accounts.
The feature does not block all messages from unknown accounts, but only targets accounts that send a large number of messages in a short period of time.
This ensures that users continue to receive important messages from unknown contacts, while protecting their devices from being overloaded by spam messages.
The system is based on an algorithm that tracks message sending rates from unknown accounts, and automatically lifts the ban when the message rate returns to normal, meaning that users will not permanently ban all unknown accounts, but only those whose behavior is suspicious.

This feature will also be suggested to users who receive large amounts of messages from unknown accounts, to help protect against fraud or spam attempts.
The feature is now available to a number of beta users who updated WhatsApp from the Google Play Store, and is expected to be available to more users in the coming weeks.
