A new WhatsApp feature is on the way: with ‘quick reactions’, a simple double click will automatically make a heart appear

And it is precisely in this perspective that a completely innovative function relating to the so-called ‘rapid reactions‘. Just like on the Instagram platform, on WhatsApp we can also respond with a simple heart double-tapping the screen.

The information portal WABetaInfo reports on the matter:

“This feature improves interaction by allowing users to quickly react to photos, videos, and GIFs directly from the media viewer screen.”

In this initial phase, users will be able to simply add a heart that will appear in the bottom right corner, but it is not out of the question that other emojis will soon be available.

How Quick Reactions Work on WhatsApp

Currently, to proceed with the selection and projection of an emoji you have to hold down the text and choose one from the menu. The new feature in the testing phase, however, will allow the user to automatically add a heart by double-tapping a message.

WABetaInfo also explains that:

“The new feature offers a more efficient way to express emotions through emojis and respond to media without having to return to the chat view. “It seems that WhatsApp is now focused on developing additional tools to make it faster for users to react to messages.”

What issues might the new feature affect?

Even though the aim is to make communication more immediate and intuitive, WABetaInfo specifies the following:

“It’s important to note that an option to disable this feature is not currently planned, and we understand that it may cause inconvenience to some users who may accidentally react to old messages while scrolling through their chat history.”.

Finally, it should be noted that despite the arrival of this new feature, WhatsApp users will still be able to select emojis other than the heart through the menu available to them.
