With the arrival of spring and the first beautiful days it is good and right to take nice walks and excursions out of town, but for many players the end represents the perfect moment to give free rein to their passion for video games. And so, here is our ritual question: what will you play this weekend?
The last two weeks have not been particularly full of news in terms of upcoming games, although there have been some small gems. In this sense, our thoughts certainly go to the peculiar Children of the Sun. It is a third-person shooter with a truly original basic idea: we are a sniper with telekinetic abilities who must eliminate all the enemies of the various stages using a single projectile, which we can redirect between one elimination and another. As explained in our review of Children of the Sun, the title manages to mix shooter and puzzle mechanics in a really fun way, offering an overall more than noteworthy experience, even if it might not meet everyone's tastes.
If you love strategic games, Headquarters: World War II could be for you. Set after D-Day, the game allows you to be on both sides of the war leading the armies of the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany. In our review we explain that the game managed to convince us thanks to its complexity and dynamism and a formula that represents a successful evolution of that of XCOM.
March's big releases and the backlog that never ends
Considering the dearth of big releases over the last couple of weeks, it's likely that many of you will be spending the weekend trying to clear your backlog or playing through last month's biggest releases. In this sense, Helldivers 2 continues to be one of the most played titles of the moment, thanks to its simple but addictive formula and the constant support of Arrowhead Games Studio with new content and interesting finds in terms of dynamic narrative. In this regard, a new War Title and ship upgrades have recently been made available to players.
We cannot fail to also mention Dragon's Dogma 2, which despite less than perfect optimization on PC and console and a series of structural defects, presents itself as an engaging and one-of-a-kind experience. Still on the subject of games released in March, you are truly spoiled for choice, between Princess Peach: Showtime!, WWE 2K24, Unicorn Overlord, Rise of the Ronin and the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West.
