Valencia and the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències is one of the outstanding destinations in 2022 and the perfect getaway for the next long weekend. A spectacular environment and unique content with large-format projections, planetariums, exhibitions dedicated to music and space exploration, live experiments for all audiences and even a scientific musical theater that is as fun as it is interesting. Here are some proposals:
Igor Mitoraj Exhibition
The new art exhibition brings together fifteen large-format sculptures by Igor Mitoraj in a sample that is freely accessible to the public. The exhibition is the new bet of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències for urban and public art. The visitor can find these gigantic bronze pieces in the lakes of the Hemisfèric, the Palau de les Arts, the Paseo de Cipreses, the Paseo del Arte del Umbracle and the west entrance of the Museu de les Ciències.
The secrets of the sea and the Amazon at the Hemisfèric
The Hemisfèric’s billboard includes large-format screenings such as ‘Amazon adventure’ and ‘Oceans’, nature documentaries to discover the exuberant Amazon region or take an extraordinary journey from the frozen shores of the Arctic to the warm waters of the tropics. Other options at the Hemisfèric are the film ‘The Enchanted Reef: Kaluoka’hina 3D’, ‘Walking with Dinosaurs: Prehistoric Planet 3D’, ‘Journey to Space. Next Stop Mars’ and ‘Secrets of the Universe’.
Planetarium for children ‘Astromenuts’
The Hemisfèric turns on Sundays at 12 noon into a spaceship waiting for the astronauts of the future. Children ages 3 to 6 discover the secrets of day and night, the phases of the Moon or the wonders contained in the constellations.
scientific musical theater
‘Ramona and Cajal. El secreto del Museu’ is the only scientific musical in Spain. The Science Theatre, Museu de les Ciències hosts this fun musical performance for families from Thursday to Sunday. Two young people, Ramona and Cajal, will experience a night of adventures at the Museum and will meet key figures in the history of science.
Live experiments with ‘Science on stage’
The special sessions of ‘Science on Stage’, ‘Chemistry in Action’ and ‘The Invisible Science’ bring together the best experiences of ‘Chemical Magic’, ‘Cold, cold’, ‘aLUZina!’, ‘Horror to the void’ and ‘ Al Rojo Vivo’ aimed at children from 8 years old. On the other hand, the new SOS Planeta workshop (from 10 years old) is dedicated to the environment and sustainability.
Zero gravity
In this exhibition, the public learns about the cosmos with interactive modules that explain curious astronomical phenomena and learns about the main works and research carried out by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Guided visits to the Science Museum
The exhibition ‘Play. Science and music’, immerses the visitor in the world of music from varied perspectives such as history, anthropology, science and education.
‘Mars. The conquest of a dream
Interactive exhibition that brings us closer to this fascination and the challenges of a future human colonization. The sample offers a vision of all the perspectives of the planet.
