New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday and the holiday is moved to Monday
New Year’s Day is a holiday throughout Spain. However, this time it falls on a weekend, specifically on a Sunday. Therefore many people wonder what happens with the holiday. These dates are established each year by the autonomous communities, so that some holidays are of a national nature and the rest depend on regional or municipal decisions. In the case of the Region of Murcia, it has been decided that the holiday of Sunday, January 1, will go to Monday, January 2, to make the most of the celebration of the new year.
After so many Christmas parties and meals, it is likely that many foods and products are missing at home, so there are those who will want to go to a store, supermarket or department store on Sunday the 1st or Monday the 2nd to replace what they have run out of. In addition, many people do not work because it is a holiday, so it is very likely that the streets and shops will be filled with people who want to do their shopping for the last Christmas festivity, Three Kings Day.
Although Sunday 1 and Monday 2 January are holidays and many stores remain closed, there are many establishments that will open their doors to facilitate the purchases that customers want to make. What stores will open this Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2?
