New year, new series. It begins 2022 and it does so with several draft titles, but also with important returns. There is ‘Euphoria’, which after two special episodes due to the pandemic, returns with a second season starting on January 10 on HBO Max. On January 14, the third and final season of ‘After Life’, the gritty series that Ricky Gervais has written about mourning, will premiere on Netflix and on January 21, ‘Ozark’ (Netflix) and ‘Servant’ return to the grill (Apple TV +), with its fourth and third seasons, respectively. But more surprising is that the fantastic ‘Fringe’ arrives complete on HBO Max on January 20.

Jordi Sánchez once again gets into the skin of Gregorio, that ultraconservative, reactionary and prejudiced father who starred in the film of the same name. The series, in fact, is a continuation of that story. Gregorio has just lost his home and his job as director of a bank branch, being left on the streets and at the mercy of the hospitality of his children, who will have no choice but to take turns taking him in. The cast is completed by Norma Ruiz, Félix Gómez, Carol Rovira, Adam Jezierski, Carlos Librado, Santi Cuquejo, Jorque Suquet, Darío Paso and Silvia Ruiz, who will have a special collaboration.

The Larkins
Simon Ny, acclaimed writer of ‘The Durrell’, returns to the screen with ‘The Larkin’, a fiction that adapts the saga ‘The Darling Buds of May’ by HE Bates. The screenwriter recovers all the charisma of the original novel and takes us to the late 50s, in the idyllic county of Kent (England), to meet the endearing Larkin, a working-class family from the countryside headed by Pop (Bradley Walsh) and Ma Larkin (Joanna Scanlan). The series, consisting of 6 episodes of 60 minutes, had more than 4 million viewers during its premiere in England, which has made it the new phenomenon ‘feel-good’ on British television.

Drama and thriller go hand in hand in this story that focuses on Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian doctor who will do anything to save her son, who has been diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening immunodeficiency disorder. Leaving her husband Marco in the Philippines, Thony arrives in the United States seeking urgent medical treatment for her son, but when the only compatible bone marrow donor withdraws and her visa expires, Thony finds herself trapped in Las Vegas and forced to support her son by working as a cleaning worker alongside her Filipino sister-in-law.

Euphoria
The pandemic truncated, in a certain way, the continuation of one of the most interesting series of 2019. And although this same year two special chapters of this fiction were released, in which the covid flew over both episodes, it will be now when this drama that follows the steps of several teenagers have their continuation. In the only trailer we have seen so far, Rue (Zendaya) appears carrying a suitcase full of drugs, returning to rehab and in some romantic sequences with Jules (Hunter Schafer). Will there be idyll?
Chucky is back, the real one, not the modern doll adapted to new technologies. An idyllic American town is thrown into chaos when a Chucky doll appears at a street market in a residential neighborhood. Soon, a series of terrifying murders begin to take place that uncover the hypocrisy and dark secrets of the neighbors. Brad Dourif returns to lend his voice to Chucky and, in addition, some of the actors who have been part of the saga will return. Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent and Fiona Dourif. Don Mancini, creator and screenwriter of the saga ‘Diabolical Doll, has adapted the story for television, directs the first episode and collaborates as showrunner.
Do you remember ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’, the series that Chuck Norris starred in? Well, for some reason that we do not quite understand, the chain The CW, aimed at young audiences, has launched a reboot of the franchise starring Jared Padalecki, one of the protagonists of ‘Supernatural’. It has already been renewed for a third season.

Ricky Gervais ends the series in which he addresses mourning. Written and directed by himself, Gervais plays the editor of a small local newspaper who tries to assimilate the death of his wife and who adopts a new attitude along the way in an attempt to alienate those who are trying to help him.

James Wan, responsible for the memorable ‘Saw’ and ‘Insidious’ is in the production of ‘File 81’. The fiction tells the story of Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), an archivist who accepts a commission to restore a collection of video tapes from 1994. As he reconstructs the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi), Dan immerses himself in the investigation she carried out on a dangerous cult in the Visser apartment block.

‘Express’ is the first original Starzplay production in Spain. Created by Ivan Escobar, showrunner and screenwriter, along with Antonio Sánchez Olivas and Martín Suárez, the series tells the story of a criminal psychologist, Bárbara (Maggie Civantos), and her family, after being this victim in one of the most novel ways of criminal violence that is spreading massively, express kidnappings.
