Saint Gregory of Tours, a Gallo-Roman bishop and historian, was the great-grandson of Saint Gregory of Langres. He lost his father at a young age and, after moving to Cavaillon, his education was left to his uncle Nicetius, who later became bishop of Lyon. Shortly after, he was ordained deacon and, at the age of 34, assumed the position of bishop of Tours, succeeding his maternal cousin Euphronius. During his episcopacy, Saint Gregory devoted himself to writing, producing notable works such as the ‘Historia Francorum’. He spent his entire life in Gaul and died in the year 594.
