Vladimir Putin, current President of Russia, has been on the political front page since 1999, when he assumed the interim presidency of the country after the resignation of Boris Yeltsin. For more than two decades Putin has controlled the destiny of the Russian Federation.

In 1999 he assumed the interim position of president. In the 2000 presidential election, Putin won with just over 52% of the vote. and remained in office for two terms. In 2008 he took over the position of prime minister while his DolphinDmitri Medvedev was president. From 2012 to the present, Putin resumed the position of president of the country. In the 2021 legislative elections for the State Duma, Putin’s party won 49.82% of the votes and a total of 324 seats out of the 450 that make up the Duma. The second formation was the Communist Party, which obtained 18.93% of the votes and 57 seats. Following were the Liberal Democratic Party, Just Russia and Young People.
The Progress Party and later Russia of the Future, was never accepted by the Russian Ministry of Justice and has not been able to attend the elections in the country. It is the formation of the Russian opponent, Alexei Navalnyone of the most critical of Putin.
What political system does Russia have?
Russia’s political system is a presidential federal republic. As specified in the Constitution, the President of Russia is the Head of State and there is a multi-party system with executive power exercised by the Government. The President of the Russian Federation elects the Prime Minister with the approval of the Federal Assembly.
