The invasion of the fans of the Deportivo Cali and attacks on the technician Candelo Mayer and the player Theophilus Gutierrez once again tarnished the development of the Colombian League.
the match between Cortuluá and Cali could not be completed. In the 82nd minute, after the fans entered the field of play, he forced the match to be suspended.
On his Twitter account, Dimayor announced that the game was over with the score that was presented at that time, 2-0.
However, the issue still has to go through the Disciplinary Committee of the championship, which will have to study what the central referee of the match, Jhon Hinestroza from Chocó, reports, as well as what the field commissioner of the Doce de Octubre stadium reports.
What does the regulation say about the suspension of matches
The sanction has two components: one, to Cortuluá, as the organizing club of the meeting, and the other, to Deportivo Cali, as responsible, by regulation, for the behavior of its fans.
The Single Disciplinary Code of the Colombian Football Federation says in its article 83, about infractions punishable by withdrawal or resignation, “with a fine of 20 minimum legal wages in force at the time of the infraction and defeat by withdrawal or resignation, the following”, and in their eighth point they mention, “if due to the actions of the leaders of a club, municipal or departmental team or due to a factor for which the club or organizer of the meeting is responsible, a match cannot be played or is terminated early by the referee’s order. ”.
On the subject of spectator behavior, the regulation is guided by its article 84, where it says: “The clubs will be responsible for the improper conduct of the spectators, in accordance with the degree of guilt that is established.” And they mark that the issue does not only go through the host, since “the clubs that act as visitors will be responsible for the improper conduct of the spectators considered as their followers, in accordance with the degree of guilt that can be established.”
The following details what happens when there is this type of behavior in matters of sanctions, “the improper conduct of the spectators that generates disorders before, during or after a game, in the stadium, will give rise to the sanction of the club consisting of a reprimand or to the suspension of the place from one (1) to three (3) dates”.
They also mention, “in case of suspension, the respective club will be fined eight (8) to ten (10) legal monthly minimum wages in force at the time of the infraction. If as a consequence of the previous conduct damage is derived to the facilities or people, the sanction will be two (2) to four (4) dates of suspension and a fine of ten (10) to twelve (12) current legal monthly minimum wages. ”.
The invasion of the field is an aggravating circumstance
At times when there are invasions, as in this case, “When the public invades the field, the local club will be sanctioned with suspension from one (1) to three (3) dates. If, as a consequence of the invasion, the normal development of the match is delayed or prevented, the suspension will be from two (2) to four (4) dates”. Finally, they say, “The club will incur the above sanction in the event that the public assaults the referees, managers, staff members of the teams or authorities, before, during or after the game.”
Thus, Cortuluá is exposed to an economic sanction and, very surely, to a sanction to the plaza. There is a recent precedent, with Unión Magdalena, which was punished with 10 games behind closed doors due to a fight between fans of this club and Junior, which left one dead.
Fernando Jaramillo, president of the Dimayor, referred to the matter, in an interview with Blu Radio: “From the sports point of view, it will have its consequences and the fans know that this type of action the only thing they do is harm their clubs even more, so the Disciplinary Committee, based on the information from the commissioner and the referee, will take the pertinent measures and will be informed later,” he explained.
