Premier League clubs are enjoying the presence of fans this season after most matches have been played behind closed doors since the pandemic began early in 2020.
Britain revealed, on Friday, that more than 122,000 people were infected in one day, with the number of cases increasing in light of the spread of the mutated Omicron.
Guardiola said of the possibility of the fans absent again: “I honestly do not want that to happen. But the number of injured people is increasing around the world, not only in Britain. These people go to stadiums and they can spread the infection.”
He continued, “In the stadiums, people do not wear masks, and this is what excites me the most. We must start again with getting the additional dose of vaccination, if it is decided, in addition to sterilizing hands and social distancing and masks.”
He added, “I trust the scientists because they know it better than I do. People don’t die when they get the vaccination, but they can die if they don’t get it.”
Manchester City leads the league with 44 points, 3 points behind Liverpool, and hosts Leicester City on Sunday.
