The geekiest month of the year is over and this May 25 you can celebrate Geek Pride Day with your favorite movie, anime or series.
In case you don’t already know, Geek Pride Day began in 1998, when Tim McEachern organized the Geek Pride Festival in a bar in Albany, New York. Although this celebration ended 2000 years later (2006) it was reborn in Spain.
The celebration as you know it today was held for the first time in Madrid, Spain, on May 25, 2006. This event was organized by blogger Germán Martínez, better known as “El Señor Buebo.”
He had the great idea of a massive meeting to celebrate the anniversary of the premiere of “Star Wars: A New Hope” (1977) and at the same time claim the right to be a geek. In addition, this incredible date also coincides with the celebration of Towel Day.
If you are a geek, this May 25 is the time to demand your geek rights like staying home; not having a partner and being a virgin; not like soccer or any other sport; have few friends; not going into fashion and even the right to dominate the world.
You already know, share a video, image or give your opinion on what you are most passionate about about the culture that we love so much on social networks. Don’t forget to add #pridedaygeek. Even in several states of the Mexican Republic there will be events related to this date, so if you are around, be sure to share your photos with us on our social networks.
Tips to Enjoy Geek Pride Day
- Spend the day enjoying your favorite video games.
- Get together with your friends (if you want) and spend the day playing your favorite role-playing games or classic board games.
- If you finished them early, spend the afternoon and evening enjoying a marathon of Star Wars, Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings or favorite anime series or movies.
- Don’t forget to increase your energy with the best pizza and favorite snack.
