Ukrainian winger Andriy Yarmolenko and Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals scored a goal in each half, as West Ham United beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The win ended a three-game winning streak for Steven Gerrard’s side in the Premier League.
Yarmolenko took leave from West Ham after the Russian invasion of his country last month, then suffered from illness and missed West Ham’s 0-1 loss against Seville in the European League last Thursday.
The player got down on his knees and raised his arms to the sky in an atmosphere full of emotions after scoring the first goal in the 70th minute, receiving a pass from Said Benrahma and hitting a powerful ball into the net after he participated in the place of the injured Michael Antonio.
After 12 minutes, West Ham added the second goal, as Benrahma sent an elegant pass that Fornals turned into his fifth goal in the league this season.
Aston Villa reduced the difference by Jacob Ramsey in the last minute.
West Ham advanced to fifth place with 48 points, while Aston Villa remained ninth with 36 points.
