Wentworth Miller, star and protagonist of Prison Break, has announced that he is autistic at 49: his words
Wentworth Miller, known to the general public for his extraordinary success as a leading actor in Prison Break, announced to be autistic. The man gave this news, which was unsettling for him. The story was done with a long post.
It had been preceded by a self-diagnosis, then followed by a formal one. It was a long, winding process and I thought an update was needed, as I am a middle aged man and not a 5 year old.
The man has known about the diagnosis for some time, but he wanted to talk about it only now. In his long post he wanted to be clear and not be the spokesperson for something he doesn’t know well. As he himself admits, of his own pathology he knows very little, but is willing to divulge profiles that, on the other hand, provide daily information.
I don’t want to take the risk of suddenly being a strong but misinformed voice. Of the #autistic community (I know this) it has been at the center of debates several times. There has been a lot of talk and I don’t want to do any more damage. Just raise your hand, say, “I’m here. I’ve been there (without realizing it) ”.
If anyone is interested in learning more about #autism + # neurodiversity, I will point out numerous people who share thoughtful, inspiring content on Instagram, TikTok… with which to unpack the terminology. Adding shades. Fighting the stigma.
The Prison Break actor, therefore, will have to deal with this pathology. He hasn’t appeared on the big screen in a while as he himself admitted after his own coming out, he wanted to take a break.
