What happened at the end of the movie?
To explain the end of “Weekend in Croatia” we must go back to the beginning. As we know, Kate and Beth went on a trip to distract themselves. But they both have different ideas about how to hang out.
In that sense, after so much insistence, the character played by Leighton Meester agrees to go to a party with her friend. The next morning, the first wakes up alone in her room, since the other girl has disappeared. Here the problems begin.
There are two key points before Kate’s body is found: the young woman had hired two escorts the night before (who were later robbed); and Rob, Beth’s husband, was in Croatia, supposedly to help with the investigations.

However, it soon comes to light that the real reason for the man’s arrival in the country was because, for several months, he had been having an affair with the protagonist’s friend. This leads the case to Beth as a suspect for alleged revenge on her.
Then, with the security cameras, the young mother decides to search for the truth and discovers that Pavic, one of the police officers in charge of the investigations, returned Kate to his Airbnb the night she disappeared. Therefore, the woman is convinced that he committed the crime.
When he confronts him, there is a struggle and the officer falls dead. After that, it is revealed that he was related to problems of aggression against women, although he was later acquitted. With these events, it is decided to close the case, since the alleged culprit died. But, this is not the true end of the story.

Who killed Kate?
After the traumatic events, Beth is back at her home in London. Divorced, she decides to go to the house of her now ex-husband to leave the baby. At that point, Rob asks her to stay with her for a cup of tea, she refuses and before leaving, he asks her to take a spare key from her pocket.
Without imagining it, she finds a note from a necklace worn by Kate in Croatia. So, she decides to go to the bathroom and call the Croatian police. When the line is active, the subject knocks on the door, but the woman does not cut the connection and manages to capture the statements.
Rob confesses that he had gone to Croatia to ask his lover and friend not to tell Beth, the girl refused him and, in a fight, he accidentally hits her before she falls into the river.
When it reaches the water, there is no more way out. She drowns because the concussion left her very confused.
In this way, “Weekend in Croatia” closes with the protagonist escaping from the house and the police taking care of the man who once swore love and loyalty to her, now turned into a criminal.
