The grid of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022 is enriched with a new team, Vector Sport.
The Silverstone-based team has in fact entered an Oreca 07-Gibson in the LMP2 Class with the # 10 for next season, and the first driver hired goes by the name of Nico Müller.
For the Swiss it is the first and important step in what will be an adventure to be discovered, given that as Audi Sport standard bearer he will subsequently be engaged on board the brand new LMDh of the Ingolstadt company in 2023.
“I am thrilled to be part of this new team, as well as confident and proud to begin this new chapter of endurance – said the 29-year-old Rossocrociato – Vector Sport is a new name, but behind it has people who come from different categories of motorsport and who has experience. There is great motivation in the group for this new project. “
“The WEC and the world of endurance linked to prototypes are projected towards a truly incredible future, I am very grateful to Audi Sport for giving me the opportunity to be part of this program. We are privileged to be among the protagonists of this new era. “.
“With Vector Sport we share the goal that everyone has, which is to race to win. We hope to learn quickly to be able to fight for success and I can’t wait to get started.”
Vector Sport will be directed by Gary Holland, who has gained experience in Jota and Risi Competizione in this environment.
“Thanks to the innovative vision of ACO and FIA, endurance racing is preparing to usher in a great and new era. LMH, LMDh and the new GT3s will be part of a discipline that is taking the right direction for the future, so that’s why we have decided to found our new team “.
“We thank Audi Sport for giving us Nico for 2022, he will be an integral part of our LMP2 program, for which we foresee a very strong training of drivers, followed by a team of capable and technically experienced engineers. The future goal is to land in other categories as well, but for now we are thinking about next season “.
