Website domain was previously used to publicize government actions and information about the Chief Executive
The site with the domain with the president’s last name Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is being used for the dissemination of criticisms to the Chief Executive. The address “www.bolsonaro.com.br” has previously been used for publications praising government actions.
The site currently displays an image of the president associated with German dictator Adolf Hitler on the cover with the phrase “Threat to Brazil”. It also features a series of thematic texts with criticism of the president, as well as a real-time countdown to the supposed end of Bolsonaro’s term, who is a candidate for reelection.
Currently, the site also displays the phrase: “This site is not managed and does not belong to the Bolsonaro family”. However, in consultation with the website wayback machinewhich records versions of pages published on the internet, until at least April 2021, the site had information on government actions, the president’s biography and links to the Chief Executive’s social networks.
The site has been used to publicize the activities of Bolsonaro and his political relatives since 2002. In July of that year, the site displayed the publicity of the candidacies of Bolsonaro, then a federal deputy, and of Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), currently a senator and, at the time, a candidate for state deputy.
A newspaper report Folha de S.Paulo November 2020 revealed that the bolsonaro.com.br website was registered by a company in the Federal District. According to the newspaper, the person responsible for the company would be Liberato de Almeida Felix. He claimed to have given inmany years ago” information from his company to Bolsonaro’s office when he was a federal deputy for the domain to be registered.
Felix would have given up the information at the request of Jorge Francisco, a former army captain and head of Bolsonaro’s cabinet in the Chamber for about 20 years. He died in April 2018. Jorge Oliveira, his son, was Bolsonaro’s minister at the General Secretariat and later appointed as minister of the TCU (Union Court of Auditors).
On domain checking sites consulted by the Power360, it is indicated that the domain underwent a registry update on August 11, 2022. Félix’s company name no longer appears.
Questioned by the report, Secom (Special Secretariat for Communication) did not respond about the change in the content of the bolsonaro.com.br website and whether the page was previously related to the Presidency. The space remains open.
