Weather “Winter has been so long” – The flickering light of spring attracted sunbathing in swimming trunks and the first outdoor ice cream in Helsinki

Sunday’s warmth won’t go away in the metropolitan area right away, but the back winter is already gaining strength in the north.

Sunday in the sun Ville Ohtonen dived three times to swim in a pair of sea. It is no accomplishment for a winter swimmer.

What seemed exceptional, on the other hand, was that the man stayed on the beach for ten minutes to sunbathe in his swim shorts before the dress came to mind.

“He couldn’t bear to dress. It’s so warm here, ”he said with his bare toes in the slouch.

Southernmost Helsinki was full of sun-loving city dwellers on Sunday, although mostly those who dress much more carefully.

On each bench and on the rocks sat people who were in no hurry to get anywhere. Those who were too wintery folded their hats and jackets next to them. The forgotten sunglasses closed their eyes for a moment. Some lucky ones had lunch with them, others queued up at the counter stall and cafes.

On the way to Eiranranta there was training in throwing sandwiches, there were adults and children throwing stones together.

Danilo Maksimovic threw sandwiches on the beach and helped spring melt the ice by pushing it deeper into the sea. Next door supervised by Ivana Maksimovic.

Small Danilo Maksimovic seriously study how far rocks of different sizes and weights fly. The heavy-looking boulder slammed loudly into the shore water, light and flat flew far.

“Winter has been so long. When we saw the sun, we could hardly wait to get here, ”he said Ivana Maksimovic. Sundays are a family time, but such a beautiful day especially attracted me to go further than my home corners in Vantaa.

On the shores of the beach you could see a lot of laughing dogs and couples holding each other’s hands. Even the ice floe, which is still standing in the shelters, eventually gave up and licked as water into the sewers.

“Yes, this is as expected. We are on a day walk. The journey came along the shores for five kilometers, when Malta did not stop. ”

Patrick Fortell practices Chi Kung.

Patrick Fortell practiced Chi kung with friends around the cliffs of Ursin. It’s an old Chinese gymnastics technique whose slow movements are a workout for the mind rather than a strenuous physical performance.

“We usually practice in Kaivopuisto, but here the land is already melted,” he said.

Instead, the first outdoor ice cream of the spring was eaten on the seafront promenade.

“This is super good. And the weather crowns everything, ”they said Eveliina Ehnström and Elina Heinänen.

Light and heat dissipation does not have to be annoyed in the metropolitan area right away.

“It’s still sunny on Monday, the heat may be one or two degrees from Sunday,” says the meteorologist on duty Ari Mustalo From the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

So it still means eleven degrees on Monday, plus ten on Tuesday, and about ten on Tuesday. On Wednesday, however, the temperature is likely to be below ten. The metropolitan area is cloudy and probably rains.

The weather for the rest of the week is associated with more uncertainty. Thursday may still be quite worthy for sun worshipers, but then you will probably get a dose in the back of winter.

“The north is getting cold, so here we are going in a colder direction again,” says the meteorologist.
