Weather Roads and sidewalks in the south may still be slippery in the morning, strong winds in the southwest

Almost the entire country today is at least partially sunny.

Road users it is worth preparing for slippery weather in southern Finland on Friday morning.

In South Savo and South Karelia, the traffic weather may still be bad in the morning due to snowfall, in Pirkanmaa and Häme the road surface is weakened by the freezing of road surfaces.

On the south and southwest coasts and in Häme, sidewalks may still be slippery in the morning due to the water on the ice.

Temperature is on the coast slightly above zero on Friday, said the meteorologist on duty at the Finnish Meteorological Institute Ari Mustala on Thursday. In eastern and northern Finland, there is a maximum of five degrees of frost per day.

The whole country is partly sunny. It is more cloudy in eastern and northern Lapland, and snow showers can also occur.

The wind is moderate to moderate throughout the country. Gusts of wind are expected, especially on the west and southwest coasts. The gusts can be up to 20 meters per second.

In southwestern Finland and Satakunta, strong northwest winds and gusts are warned. According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute, wind can cause individual fallen trees over a large area as well as short power outages.

A storm warning is in effect in the western seas on Friday.

Saturday the thermometer appears to be at or above zero in the south and southwest, Mustala says. In southern and central Finland and northern Ostrobothnia, the coldest temperature can be five degrees, in Lapland 5–15 degrees. The coldest is in the very north.

On Sunday night, the frost in the south will increase to around ten degrees. Over the course of the day, however, the weather begins to condense from the west.

There will be sleet or snowfall from the west, which will probably spread throughout the country during the day.

“Snowfall seems to be becoming more common as we go towards Monday,” Mustala says.

Driving conditions can be bad all over the country on Sundays due to snowfall.
