Is the sunniest summer since weather records began coming to an end? According to weather experts, there are some indications.
Offenbach – It was the sunniest summer in Germany since records began, as the German Weather Service (DWD) recently announced. But the summer days are apparently numbered now, because autumn is trying to assert itself. In the next few days, not only will the temperatures drop, but it will also get wet. There are occasional storms.
Weather on Tuesday: Still summery temperatures, especially in the west and south-west
Although the start of autumn on the calendar is not until September 23, the weather could already be more autumnal this week. According to the DWD, it is partly cloudy and dry in north-eastern Germany on Tuesday. However, there can also be local showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain – this goes up to the risk of severe weather. Tuesday is probably the hottest day of the week, but it will be muggy – the temperatures are between 21 degrees in Western Pomerania and 29 degrees on the Rhine. Wetter.de even speaks of maximum temperatures of up to 30 degrees in the west and south-west.
Between the Alps and Western Pomerania, the showers and thunderstorms will subside hesitantly on Wednesday night, the DWD weather experts predict. In the rest of Germany it will be partly thundery until the morning hours and there will be precipitation. In the north-east of the Federal Republic, the temperatures are loud Wetter.de therefore only around 20 to 24 degrees and it gets windy, especially on the coast.
Deep Peggy will continue to influence the weather in Germany until the end of the week – and it will be wet
The DWD announced on Monday that the center of the extensive Peggy low was currently southwest of Ireland. There it whirls “in its spiral splendor,” write the weather experts Twitter and explain the effects in this country as follows: “It will affect the weather in Germany until the end of the week with humid air.”
Meanwhile, tropical storm Danielle swept through the Atlantic. Danielle was upgraded to the first Atlantic hurricane of the US season on Friday last week. The hurricane is more than 1400 kilometers west of the Azores and reaches wind speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, said the National Hurricane Center in Miami on Friday. However, the storm is moving very slowly, at about two kilometers per hour to the west – so there is no danger for distant coastal areas, according to experts. Nevertheless, the storm could have an impact on the weather in this country.
This is what the weather will be like on Wednesday and Thursday
The DWD forecast sounds more uncomfortable for Wednesday. Accordingly, it can be cloudy or even very cloudy – some heavy showers and thunderstorms are approaching from the west, some heavy rain. However, those who live north-east of the Elbe can look forward to mostly dry and often clear weather at least until the evening. While the temperatures at the sea are up to 20 degrees, they reach 28 degrees on the Upper Rhine.
It will be even wetter on Thursday night. “With changing clouds, showery rain in some areas, locally with thunderstorms,” said the DWD. The temperatures cool down to 16 to 11 degrees. On Thursday it will be cloudy to heavily overcast, rain will fall locally and there may be occasional strong thunderstorms. It will be up to 19 to 24 degrees warm and thus much fresher than at the beginning of the week. The low temperatures on Thursday are between 14 and 9 degrees.
