According to Korpinen, the next turn in the weather is likely to take place on Thursday night, when, according to preliminary forecasts, Finland will exceed a fairly wide-ranging low pressure, which will bring rain to the whole country. Initially, the same low pressure is likely to condense Lapland close to zero and in some places to the plus side. Small frosts may remain in northern Lapland and Arm.
According to Korpinen, in the aftermath of low pressure, a flow of cold air is coming again.
Motorists should be careful on roads in the north on Monday. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued warnings about bad driving in Lapland, Pudasjärvi, Taivalkoski and Kuusamo.
Driving conditions in these areas deteriorate from the morning due to icy drizzle and snow or sleet. Due to the weather, the flow of traffic deteriorates and the average speed decreases. The risk of accidents is also higher than usual.
During Friday, there may also be a rain area that will intensify the winds in the south and bring in heavy rainfall. However, according to Korpinen, this forecast goes so far that it is likely to change.
