The Ticwatch Atlas is Mobvoi’s proposal for extreme sports, adventurers and those looking for a smart watch that supports the most extreme conditions. After a few weeks testing it, it is clear that Mobvoi has made a significant leap in this segment, although he is not exempt from some sacrifices.
The Atlas stands out from the first moment for its robustness. It is made of premium materials such as stainless steel, 7000 series aluminum and fiberglass reinforced nylon. This, together with its Mil-STD-810H military certification, makes it a “tank” proof of everything. The screen is protected by sapphire crystal, which guarantees resistance to blows and scratches, ideal for outdoor activities.
Of course, this resistant design causes what clock is large and something heavy, for people with small wrists or looking for a more discreet device, the Atlas can be too large.
The dual screen is 1.43 inches, combines a high resolution OLED panel, with bright colors and clarity, with a low -consumption LCD screen, which is extremely useful under the direct light of the sun. This combination not only improves visibility, but also prolongs battery life. This double screen system brings very clear benefits, but also some other disadvantage, for example, sometimes passing the LCD screen to the OLED requires the restart of the device, to be able to “arouse it”, which means waiting for a few seconds.
The hidden jewel is in its battery
Inside it has the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, 2 GB chipset of RAM and 32 GB of storage, the performance of the Atlas is fluid and fast. We have not noticed delays or problems when using its multiple functions, or launching applications, which thanks to using Wear OS, can connect with the Play Store. However, the true jewel here is its battery.
The capacity of 628 MAH offers 90 hours in intelligent mode and up to 45 days in an essential mode, which positions it as one of the smarter clocks with more autonomy. Which means that we could go for a walk in the essential mode, and the battery would last us practically a month and a half.
Among the new functions for adventure we can find, the heat map, for runners, cyclists or hikers in search of new routes, and the detection of falls with calls of emergency, a good option when you want to play sports alone. In our tests, we had some false positives, riding a bike, detected falls when there were no. But it’s better like that.
Finally, we have the compass and barometer, which are two classic brand essentials. In addition to the 110 training modes, Atlas is able to measure heart rate, SPO2, sleep monitoring, and metric for specific sports. Comparing with other models, the measurements were precise.
Is it worth it?
Ticwatch Atlas is a perfect watch for those who like adventure, and want to exercise without worrying about the blows that your device can receive, with great battery durability, and with perfect functions for exercise abroad.
As negative points, the price may be somewhat high compared to other ticwatch, and the large, and heavy design limits it to wide dolls. Also, we would have liked that Atlas admit ESIM, to turn it into a more independent device.
