The Misano accident
The entire world of motorsport and in particular the large motorcycling family was impressed by the dramatic accident of which the Norwegian pilot Mia Rusthen was the victim on the occasion of the first race of the WCR championship. The girl flew to the ground, alone, at the Misano-2 curve when there were seven laps left until the checkered flag of the race, which was then interrupted with the red flag after her crash. Rusthen, following the polytrauma encountered on the track, was transferred to the Cesena hospital where she underwent surgery to relieve the pressure on her head and the bleeding. She was subsequently put into an artificial coma.
The family update
Overnight, the family of the 21-year-old from Yamaha provided a new statement on her condition. The information is – fortunately – encouraging. “She is still hospitalized at the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital here in Italy and is undergoing specialist care by the hospital’s trauma team. She has her loved ones around her and this is a strong point for her and for us as a family – it is explained in the note – Mia is still in a coma, but the doctors report that, fortunately, she is out of danger and is stable with good health. vitality. They are working on a plan to bring her home to a hospital in Norway as soon as she is stable enough to fly home. As for the extent of the injury, it is too early to say anything concrete, but we hope that her good physique and her intense stubbornness will allow her to overcome this too.”
Support from all over the world
In the same letter the family also wanted to thank those who were close to them in this difficult moment: “We want to thank you for the enormous affection, support and love that was sent to Mia and to us after the accident during the first WorldWCR race in which Mia suffered a head injury. It’s very warm and comforting. We are overwhelmed by how big the sport of road racing is in much of the world and how many thousands of people are standing by Mia and supporting her in this difficult situation.”
