Mass vaccination and herd immunity can protect even those for whom the coronavirus vaccine is contraindicated. This was reported by the specialists of the Vector Center of Rospotrebnadzor, one of the developments of which is the EpiVacCorona vaccine, on Saturday, October 23rd.
“Having vaccinated the maximum number of residents of our country, we get the opportunity to interrupt the chains of transmission of infection and prevent it from reaching the most vulnerable categories of citizens who have contraindications to vaccination, and also limit the spread of infection among the child population,” the scientists are quoted as saying TASS…
Experts noted that about 3 million people have been vaccinated with the EpiVacCorona vaccine for almost a year, and no serious adverse events have been identified from its use.
“In case of contact with the virus, a vaccinated person becomes infected much less often and is much easier to tolerate the disease. The use of effective and safe vaccines registered in Russia is the simplest and most reliable way to protect your own health and the health of your loved ones, ”the center said.
Earlier, on October 22, the Russian Ministry of Health allowed simultaneous vaccination against coronavirus infection and influenza. The ministry said the use of Sputnik V with a vaccine to prevent influenza has been studied in preclinical studies. They have shown the stability of the immunogenicity of vaccines when administered simultaneously.
At the same time, the allergist-immunologist recalled the importance of a medical mask on the face, since it is impossible to predict exactly when the level of protective antibodies begins to decrease. For different people, this happens at different times, so a mask should be used for prophylaxis and protection.
A large-scale vaccination has been taking place in Russia since January. Citizens are vaccinated free of charge and voluntarily. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
