Listeria infection is a foodborne bacterial disease that can be very dangerous to pregnant women, people over 65 and people with weakened immune systems.
The infection mostly occurs as a result of eating unprocessed sirloin and unpasteurized milk products, according to the Mayo Clinic website.
Several symptoms appear on those infected with this infection, including fever, nausea and diarrhea, and its danger to pregnant women is that they will miscarry automatically after infection.
The British newspaper “The Sun” reported that the large outbreak of listeria infection was linked to eating smoked fish.
She added that experts urge people to cook smoked fish thoroughly before eating it.
The newspaper said that pregnant women in some areas of Britain received text messages warning of this infection.
