War of Ukraine Sweden decided to send weapons to Ukraine: 5,000 one-time dividends and protective equipment

Swedish will send weapons aid and defense equipment to Ukraine, the country’s prime minister said Magdalena Andersson at a press conference on Sunday in Stockholm.

Sweden is sending 5,000 anti-tank weapons, 5,000 bulletproof vests, 5,000 helmets and 135,000 rations of food to Ukraine.

Andersson described Sweden’s decision as exceptional.

“Exceptional situations require exceptional decisions,” Andersson said.

Shortly before the Russian invasion, Ukraine had time to ask Sweden for, among other things, 2,000 anti-tank missiles.

In the Swedish parliament, the majority is in favor of sending defense weapons to Ukraine.

The sending of armed aid to Ukraine has been the subject of intense debate in Sweden. The country’s strict arms export rules prohibit the delivery of weapons to a country in the midst of a conflict.

The European Union also announced on Sunday a historic decision by which the EU will supply arms and military equipment to Ukraine.

Finland decided to send defense equipment to Ukraine on Sunday, but Finland is not sending weapons yet.

Finland will send 2,000 composite helmets and 2,000 bulletproof vests to Ukraine. In addition, medical supplies are provided, ie two first aid units.
