Walking|Many residents’ organizations appealed for quick implementation.
From Merihaans will be opened for pedestrians and cyclists in the summer of 2025, says the Kruunusillat project in its announcement.
The new Merihaans bridge connecting the southern tip of Hakaniemi and Kalasatama, i.e. Nihdi, will be opened for pedestrians and cyclists even before the Laajasalo tram service starts.
The exact date can be announced in the spring or early summer of 2025, once the construction work has progressed further.
Several resident associations have hoped that Merihaansilla will open to pedestrians and cyclists as soon as possible.
The Kruunusillat project also aims to open the Kruunuvuorensilta between Laajasalo and Korkeasaari and the Finkensilta between Korkeasaari and Kalasataman Nihti to pedestrians and cyclists as soon as it is safely possible, probably in 2026.
The goal is that passenger traffic on the tramway passing through all three new bridges will begin in 2027.
