Valuev did not support Vyalbe’s idea to drop a bomb on London
President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe proposed dropping a “serious bomb on the center of London.” Thus, she answered the question of what needs to happen for Russian athletes to be allowed to participate in the Olympics and all other competitions under their own flag and anthem. State Duma deputy, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev did not support her idea.
Vyalbe noted that Russia has been fighting the outside world for centuries. Moscow, according to her, has never been loved. “They always stand with a sharpener behind their back,” added the Soviet and Russian skier, pointing out that she likes the strength of Russia and the power of the country that irritates the whole world.
I will say things that should not be said at all. If we had dropped a serious bomb on the center of London, everything would have already ended and we would have been allowed everywhere by now
The President of the FLGR indicated that sooner or later Russian athletes will still be allowed to compete. However, Vyalbe revised her forecast for returning to competitions after the end of the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine. “Now I understand that even after the end of the special operation, nothing will happen quickly. It will take more than one year to return to the international arena,” she concluded.
Guberniev assessed Vyalbe’s proposal with the words “the old woman has gone crazy”
Russian TV presenter, journalist, sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev appreciated Vyalbe’s proposal to drop a bomb on the capital of Great Britain.
Commenting on the words of the President of the FLGR, he quoted a line from “The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish” by the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. “One week, another goes by, the old woman is even more foolish – she wants to throw a bomb on London City, but maybe we should target Trondheim?” – the journalist wrote. He added that Norway is a higher priority target for Välbe.
Valuev didn’t like Vyalbe’s idea
State Duma deputy, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev did not like the idea of the FLGR president. He also noted that the proposal for a bomb strike sounded emotional and therefore did not need comment. “This is not the case for any kind of press situation,” Valuev emphasized.
He agreed with the functionary that without Great Britain the world would have fewer problems, but did not support her proposal. “Human nature and the nature of the universe abhor a vacuum. Others are coming to fill the vacated place,” Valuev said.
The State Duma suggested that the West would react ambiguously to such a joke
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Svetlana Zhurova believes that Vyalbe’s words about the possibility of Russian athletes returning to international tournaments after the bomb attack on London were a joke.
“This is a joke. It’s just that such a joke is dangerous, because we understand that the West will immediately begin to perceive it as aggression. For some reason they don’t understand such jokes; they think that’s what we should do. You understand that this is precisely what will not solve the issue. Although she was joking, she figuratively said that, of course, something more radical needs to be decided in terms of communicating with them,” the deputy said. She indicated that such issues should be resolved with Kyiv, and not with London. “Any direction of our attacks towards NATO will not end very well for the whole world,” Zhurova added.
She noted that one should be more careful with such statements, and suggested that after such a statement Western countries would take up arms against Vyalbe.
