The strikes will last until January 2023
The Vueling airline cabin crew strike continues. The stoppage of the airline workers threatens to affect many of the trips that are scheduled for the December bridge. These are very important dates in which the Spanish take the opportunity to travel to other countries or to visit relatives who live abroad.
The large influx of trips during these days will increase the risk of delays and cancellations, as well as loss, delay or damage to luggage, according to Reclamio, the company specialized in managing air passenger claims. The workers’ representatives called this strike because Vueling has not responded to the wage demands of the company’s cabin crew members.
What days is the strike
Work stoppages have been called in the company every Friday, Sunday and Monday from November 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, which includes holidays such as December 6 and 8. Also included in this strike are December 24 and 31, 2022 and January 5, 2023, days when many people usually travel for the Christmas holidays.
This week the strike will affect citizens who begin to go on a trip over the December bridge. The flights in which stops are expected soon are Friday the 2nd, Saturday the 3rd, Sunday the 4th, Tuesday the 6th, Thursday the 8th, Friday the 9th, Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of December.
What happens if your flight is canceled
Many citizens will wonder what happens if their flight is cancelled. «Anyone who has purchased a ticket is likely to be affected by these strikes, which are involving several daily flight cancellations, mainly on multi-frequency flights, to and from large Spanish cities, such as Barcelona and Madrid. For this reason, it is important that the passenger find out a few days before about the status of their flight and, in the event that they are among those affected, demand a solution and, if applicable, compensation,” explains Noemí Fenández, manager of Claim.
In the event of any incident with the flight or luggage, Reclamio recommends that passengers keep all relevant documentation such as tickets, accommodation reservations, receipts for cats, etc. All passengers must keep the documentation if they wish to make an official claim.
In any circumstance, travelers affected by the cancellation of flights will always have the right to a full refund of the ticket within seven days or alternative transportation to the final destination, in accordance with the provisions of article 8 of Regulation 262/2004. Other types of damages that travelers may have suffered may also be claimed. Flights with direct connection are compensated after a long delay. If the cancellation of your flight occurs at a time close to the departure of the flight, according to the regulations, airlines must offer passengers food, accommodation in a hotel if necessary and transfer from the airport to said hotel.
