Izquierda Unida and Vox yesterday starred in the controversy of the day on account of a possible motion of censure against the socialist councilor, Diego José Mateos, who governs in a minority with the support of Ciudadanos. The spokesperson and councilor of the Santiago Abascal formation, Carmen Menduina, assured that she rejected up to two occasions the proposal of the left-wing formation to unseat the PSOE councilor. According to the mayor, “we cannot agree with the Communist Party on principles, because we have an opposite ideological line.” “When they needed us to kick Mateos out, we were not from the extreme right, or fascists, or rats. We were great, but the greats said no twice, ”he added.
The mayor of IU Gloria Martín replied that “it is absolutely false that we have sat down with the councilors of Vox or with those of any other municipal group to agree on a motion of censure.” He recalled that Mateos is mayor with the votes of IU despite the fact that “he betrayed the investiture pact that he had signed with our formation.” And he said that “we will never support any maneuver that has the result that the rights rule in our municipality.”
