Voting for president in the Brazilian elections has already started this Saturday (1st) for voters who live in New Zealand. According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the first section was opened at 8 am on Sunday in the country of Oceania – at 4 pm this Saturday in Brasília time. Voting there ends at 5 pm local time, 1 am on Sunday (2) Brasília time.
The opening hours of polling stations for Brazilians residing abroad will follow the same rule used by the TSE in Brazil, opening at 8 am and ending at 5 pm. The results will be sent to the court’s tallying room and added to the votes cast in the national territory.
The Brazilian Electoral Code provides for the creation of polling points in places where there are at least 30 registered voters. For these voters, the only option to vote is for president and vice president of the republic. There is no possibility of voting for deputies, senators, governors, councilors and mayors for those who are not in Brazilian territory.
