Volunteer formation “Red Convoy”, which helps the participants of the special operation, was recreated by the head of the center for military-patriotic education of the Tomsk DOSAAF Sergei Grigoriev together with his deputy Natalya Shpekht. He spoke about this on Sunday, March 26, in an interview with Izvestia correspondent Alexander Ustinov.
The history of the “Red Convoy” dates back to 1942, when local fishermen collected 2,100 carts of fish to help Kuzbass miners and metallurgists. The idea was to help the workers who help the military at the front.
Many people help the current “Red Convoy”: volunteers have enough funds to deliver the necessary things and products to the special operation zone.
“It should be in the soul. Why are we coming here? I can’t say either. We don’t have to do this. But how else? I don’t know. More than 80 years have passed since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, and now we are transporting not only fish, but also what our soldiers and civilians need, which is very important,” Sergei Grigoriev said.
As Natalya Shpekht notes, the emotions they receive from ordinary people are very valuable. Therefore, she calls on all Russians to connect and not stay away from helping their neighbor.
“I would like to appeal to all the inhabitants of our vast country: be kind. I would like you to stand up for each other: for a neighbor, a classmate, just for a passerby. When we came to Lugansk to the guys, with the same concerts, they say: “Thank you very much for helping us.” Looking into their eyes, we understand that they are covering our backs, and we are trying our best to help them, ”added Natalya.
In addition, the Red Convoy team travels throughout the Tomsk region and conducts lessons, explaining to people why the special operation began and what is happening there.
The first “Red Convoy” of 109 carts arrived in Tomsk on December 12, 1942. And now, 80 years later, an already renewed volunteer formation runs between the regions of Russia to show all the participants of the NWO that they are supported by the whole country.
On March 14, volunteers from the Survive at Any Cost project organized tactical medicine classes for Russian servicemen of the 5th Brigade of the 1st Donetsk Corps. The training took place simultaneously at eight registration points – so, in one day, the organizers can instruct up to a hundred people. Emphasis is placed primarily on emergency self-help, the use of tourniquets, and the carrying of the wounded.
Prior to this, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that a single support center for SVO participants and their families processed 3.5 thousand requests in the first weeks after opening. According to him, the center pays great attention to providing psychological assistance to children and adults. People also come for legal advice and city services.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
