A number of Emirati volunteers expressed their experiences with volunteering under the umbrella of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Khedia Al Suwaidi: Very proud
Volunteer Khedia Abdul Basit Al Suwaidi, a student at Zayed University in Dubai, said: “I am a volunteer in the global event, and this is a great honor for me to participate in this great and distinguished complex, as I am a member of the Expo 2020 media center team. My role as a member of the team is to provide exceptional customer service to the local, regional and global media organizations located in the media center at (Expo), and provide them with support so that they can convey the message of (Expo) to the world, in addition to providing general and specific information about the time of the event for any concert Or any country’s national holiday party and many other events. I also receive media professionals coming from the (Expo) portal, and help them provide everything they need to reach the media center at (Expo), and provide the services available to the media.”
And the Swedish house she is very proud of; Because she is part of this global event, and the biggest reason for her volunteering in this event is to give back to the state and all that it has given us. And their participation in this event is a simple and obligatory part for everyone to respond. She added, “During my participation in (Expo) I was able to communicate with all people from around the world, and I got acquainted with new experiences and experiences from all the people present and from different countries. Also, (Expo) made me fascinated, and made me experience the future, and I am very proud to be part of this global event that fascinated me and dazzled the world.”
Anas Al-Tumaili: A national role
Volunteer Anas Muhammad Al-Tumaili indicated that he is a team member in the media center, and that his participation in the Expo stems from the national role that every Emirati and every individual in the country should have. With his culture, awareness, showing his identity and serving his country.” He added: “(Expo) is a global event in which all global cultures gather, and through which each country shows its best, whether in the human aspect, the technological aspect and other basic aspects.
The most (Expo) added to me is getting to know many cultures around the world, getting to know many creative people, and being distinguished by the spirit of teamwork as one team. (Expo) is not just a global gathering, it is building minds and making the future.” He said: “Thank you, my wise leadership, for this tremendous work that the entire world stands for. We trust your leadership, your choice of the future, and your planning to provide a decent life for everyone in the Emirati society.”
Jamila Al Hammadi: The second participation in «Expo»
Volunteer Jamila Al Hammadi, employee and volunteer at Expo 2020 Dubai, explained that she is a member of the media center team, and said: My role as a team leader is to serve clients for local, Arab and international media organizations by providing all information, services and inquiries related to the coverage of the global event.
Al Hammadi said: “I am very happy to participate in this global event that I have been waiting for 5 years, after my last participation in this event in (Expo Milan 2015), and I am proud to be for the second time as a volunteer in the event to represent my country and our land, and to welcome visitors from all over the world, Gaining experience and cultural and knowledge exchange and experiences with media professionals, as well as increasing my practical knowledge when I visit the accompanying pavilions of these countries.”
Mahra Al Suwaidi: All the honor
Volunteer Mahra Salem Al Suwaidi, a student at Zayed University in Dubai, confirmed that she has all the honor to volunteer at Expo 2020 Dubai, to represent the UAE, and to work hard in this great event. Her role in volunteering comes within the Expo media center team, and her volunteering period is 4 weeks with a group of volunteers and supervisors.
She said: “One of the most important tasks that we do in the media center is to provide all means of comfort to the media and what they need to convey the message of the Expo to the world, and one of the most important things we do is support them with what they need to facilitate their work and requirements. From storage areas to interview rooms and work spaces, in addition to my role, my role is to help media professionals from different countries of the world store their belongings, provide them with daily content, guide them through the map to where they want to go and answer other general inquiries, as it is an opportunity It is distinctive for a university student to go through this experience, to obtain a work experience with others and enhance self-confidence, and an opportunity to gain new knowledge, and work in a team spirit.”
Ghania Obeid: A National Passion and Duty
Volunteer Ghania Naguib Obaid explained that volunteering is my passion and a national and societal duty. I also feel love and desire to help others, communicate with diverse cultures, introduce the Emirates identity and mutual cooperation so that the event succeeds as it was planned to the fullest, where a person can only feel satisfied when he begins to give.
She said: “My role as a volunteer in (Expo) is to receive and hold meetings of dignitaries and investors, to introduce visitors to the vision of the area and the specifications of the project, to communicate and respond to their inquiries, and to collect visitors’ opinions and present them to the competent team. Also, (Expo) is a global event and pride for the UAE in front of the world, and I see the admiration and astonishment of visitors to (Expo), and this increases my happiness, pride and confidence in myself. Being chosen from among thousands of candidates in this global event is a great addition to me on a personal and professional level. It helped expand knowledge, gain new skills experiences, and get acquainted with the projects of the participating countries and the future vision.”
